Low budget exhaust. any suggestion?

well I have a 1990 240sx fastback and my stock exhaust pipe is cracking along the welding line. This is my second stock exhaust already (the 2nd one is free). So I guess it's time to change to a new exhaust. Do you guys have any suggestion for cheap exhaust? I am a poor college student so I cannot afford 500+ dollars name brand stuff. I heard someone said custom exhaust with ebay muffler will do just fine but my friend bought one of the N1 style ( I know it's sounds gay) and sound like fart and loud as hell......

should I still go with ebay stuff? if so, which shape would be the most quiet? any suggestion will help. thanks

yea try to find a used exhaust. or you can always to to muffler shop and have they do custom pipe and just buy one of the exhaust they carry. alot of the muffler shop i've been to carry the tsudo ones. they look pretty good, but not to thrilled with the sound. but i think that should only cost you bout 2-3 hundred for the whole thing.

What I'm hoping to do (being a broke college student myself) is to get some custom 3" piping and get a magnaflow muffler or something similar that looks stock but sounds nice.

this thread is making me want to do the same. as for the universals go, anybody reccomend anything quiet? magnaflow, flowmaster, borla etc etc? cus my oem is rusting through pretty bad. the outer skin has 70% rusted/peeled off, and rattles at 2400-3k rpm. and to make it worst the previous owner welded on two 14" resonators and the cat to the down pipe flanges

i was thinking about rsr exmag but too pricey for a daily driver

I've seen some 240s with magnaflow, never seen flowmaster or borla - but any of them are high quality and should sound pretty nice

i had a 3" magnaflow cat-back put on my car. it sounds great, deep and mellow at idle. it does get kinda loud in the upper end though.

magnaflow plus going to a muffler shop and have them do piping will be resonably quiet and one of your cheaper routes. but if your not turbo'd don't go 3", go 2.5..
