Looking into buying a 'vert.

Hey all,

i'm in the market for a car since i recently lost my 1991 RX7 TII. i'm very interested in the 240 verts for the simple reason that well, they're drop top and hardly anyone mods them.

so i can get some more specific answers about the verts here's the plan for the vehicle if i can find one....

it will be daily driven and left stock untill i'm out of Tech School. after that i will start modding it with the main focus on auto-x and daily driveability. now to my questions about them.

1. are the aftermarket parts available for the coupes interchangeable with the verts? mainly in the suspention department.
2. what is there to look out for with them as far as typical "problem" areas?
3. they do have a rear seat correct?

i did a search for convertable and nothing came up that answered these questions so i'm hoping someone here can lend me a hand wether its in a PM or a response on this thread. thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for any info/help.

Most everything should be interchangable. Its practically the same car except one has a rag top. I would recomend a roll cage in future. Especially if your going to be doing anything above normal driving.

As far as typical problem areas... I would think it would be the same as any other convertable. Same problems with fading of the top and maybe moisture/cracking problems from age on the rag top.

And yes i believe they do have the same rear seat as the coupes.
As far as anthing else goes with them i wouldnt really know because i dont know any people that mod them. I doubt many people do so it would be pretty original. Good luck and take lots of pics if you decide to do it.

i appreciate the reply. right now i'm still about a month away from seriously looking for a car (have to wait till after x-mas). i'm seriously leaning towards a 240 'vert for the plain reason that its well, a 'vert, and like you said... not many people mod them. i know there's one guy either on here or on zilvia.net that has a sr20 swapped vert but i can't remember his SN.

thanks again for the info. i'm hoping to have a nice new vert in the start of the new year and maybe start messing with it in '06 after i'm done College.

what do you mean by tacky? if you mean neons, stickers, park bench wings, and 20's then don't worry cuz i'm not into that. i believe in function before form since form follows function. in other words, it'll perform great before it looks great.
