Depends on if thats the only rust, or if it's everywhere. A shop can plasma cut out a section and weld in a new one for a few hundred. Where is it ?

The rust is right where the frame starts bending up and the holes are as wide as the frame and about 2.5 inchs long. I had a welder/body specialist tell me that the sides around there are weak too, and he said that he wouldnt wanna mess with it. But im going to some other places this week and im going to a frame specialist recommended by my friend dave(cleveland180)

Ignore him, a hole through the frame rails is ungood, that could be big problems. Like your buddy said he didn't want to mess with that, it is a issue you need to adress. That being said, some people on FA have new rail sides welded on and box them in for more strength

So are you sayin that i should keep it, and get it fixed. I dont know if i said this already but a rust frame specialist said that for both sides he could do it for 600, but he hasnt seen it, and this guy does really good work. Im just wondering if i should keep the car, or sell it and try n get another 240? I mean is it gunna be that cheap, or will it be close to/over 1000 dollars? Thanks for the help Dr. I really appretiate it.

Depends on if you can find another car, how the condition of the car is, etc. If thats the only thing bad with the car and you love it, invest some $$ into keeping her. If she's got some other rust, some dings and paint is fading. . sell it and go for another car. Get a quote and go from there.

Well I prefer the s14s myself but i still love my car, like I said I got a 600 quote from a frame specialist. But I dont know if its worth it, the body is cherry, a couple dings but nothing I cant fix, mechanically shes strong but needs the usual tune up. I guess its up to me from here but thanks Dr. Im leanin towards keepin her just because of how hard it was to find one. Dam it im gunna keep her I havent even had the car for a week and im giving up on it??? Wow thanks for the reality check. (much needed) Ill get it fixed and when i do...its on to turboing the KA, and on the road to reaching my goal of 17psi as a daily, and over 300hp and torque. Ill let you know how it goes but Ive gotta keep her i couldnt let it go this soon...Thanks again.

Lol,

well if you're in Brunswick Maine I'll buy that car off you cheap and fix and sell it again . . .

S13's are sexier!

Good luck, I think you're making the right choice.

this post is called 'ive found a disease on my beloved 240' not "my beloved baby has a disease" lol umm.. s14's rock and have a stronger motor. if i were you i would take a ROP class on welding and do it your self... welding isnt all that hard.. if your car is worth more then 1000 bucks i would envest the 600 more to keep it in top shape... if not i would part it out and sell the shell... if you do that id buy it for a couple of houndred... if i had the money :-p anyways hope its not too serious

when i said dont worry bout i didnt mean dont fix it. Sorry i wasnt more clear. Being from buffalo ny we get a lot of abuse from salt and snow. This is the reason i got an s14, i had 4 s13's that all had rust problems.

i say take the welding class... do it yourself... then you can fix any other rust isues you might find... and you can do your own frame boxing as well... i can mig and stick weld wanna learn how to tig weld...and i learned it all on my own... go to home depot and get ya a cracker box or a wire feed welder and read the book... practice practice practice then do it some more then fix it yourself...

Lol, you're failing to take into consideration the thousands a proper tig and mig and such will cost and the hundred of hours of pratcise. . yes that'd be awesome in theory but in reality it's cheaper to pay someon else who knows what they are doing. I wouldn't trust an amateur with the frame of my car.
