installed timing chain
My stepdad and I put a new timing chain, gears, tensioner in my 1990 240. Man that sucked!!! We got away doing it without pulling the oil pan, (thank God) we just took out the front few bolts and dropped it down far enough to get the front timing cover off. That was no biggie, but even after puting the chain marks and gear marks together correctly and making sure it was on TDC the timing was still slightly off. It had good power until 3000 rpms, then it would bog down. Well, after adjusting the oil pump/dist. about 20 times (no kidding) the timing light finally agreed that we had it timed. Finally!!! I was about ready to take it to the junk yard! But it seems to run good now and no more chain rattle at start up! I've put about about 60 miles on it so far....no leaks yet. Sorry, I just needed to vent.
