I know a bunch of people who daily drive SR's and RB's. And then?

You're missing the pont - which is, there's absolutely no "legal" way to drive an SR20DET or RB25DET or anything other than a KA24DE, in a 240sx, in the United States, on public roads. The only exception would be using CARB-exempt upgrades.

If you stood in the middle of 100 people smoking weed, and you smoked weed too, and a cop came in and arrested you only, what would you say? Everyone else does it, therefore it's not illegal? ROFL

So what if no one checks in your area. So what if your state doesn't enforce the same smog laws. IT DOESN'T MATTER. ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL LOL

we all know its illegal, drifting is illegal its a careless/reckless driving but that doesnt stop us, love goes way past legal and illegal, i own a 90 240 but it has a 89 motor in it, i know its illegal to put in an older engine in any car but the junkyard only had a 89 motor, not a 90.... so do i pay more and risk getting scammed over the net or do i just get the junkyard motor? some thing illegal or not is just common sense...like i said drifting speeding its alll illegal hell swearing in front of a women is actually illegal but we have all done this things because society allows it and its part of our daily lives. we do things we were told was ok as we grew up and we do things we love. if you love drifting then your gonna drift knowing its illegal. raine dont take me wrong here im not saying **** the police, we have laws to keep people safe and keep the peace, but as humans we are gonna do things we love and it seems to be that you are a fellow drifter so you know that every night you go out you stand a chance of getting caught, so why do you do? if you know it illegal and you have such a hard *** on whats illegal and whats ok then why? im not being rude, i respect you very much, but this topic seems almost hipocritical?

Note the "LOL" at the end of my last post.

I blast down the freeway at night when I go home. I drive the mountains hard when I can. I do illegal stuff too.

The whole point of my previous posts up to now was to re-enforce the fact that it doesn't matter where you live in the country, swapping to the common SR20DET/RB25DET stuff is an illegal thing to do by Federal law. A lot of times people ask thie "is swapping legal" question and some people always say "where I live you can do it" etc. but to me that can be misleading to a newb who might confuse "can be done" with "legal in the United States".

I'd rather let a newb know what the risks and the extent of the penalties are for commiting a Federal offense - and engine swapping to turbo's is a Federal offense. The way some people talk about it, they make it sound like because no one checks or because they don't have to go through smog tests, that it is OK to do it.

Fact is, getting caught with an illegal engine swap is a Felony, and you can be penalized by your local law enforcement, the DOT, the EPA and CARB (if you live in California). This isn't your basic "fix--it" ticket you can get local for some colored bulbs or something.

So anyways, if it seems like I"m being a "hard ***" about illegal, remember - I said "LOL" at the end. That's because I laugh more at ignorance than stupidity .

Very valid points from everybody....
As for myself every night I glide through lanes at 115mph I would go faster if it werent for the DAMN rev limiter..... That will soon change once I get the HKS LSD, "NO not LSD for the diff", but the governor remover for $115.......
On a second note to s13peacekeeper if you still have the DE head just put in new valve train parts, and convert your SOHC to DOHC....... More power, more drift, the conversion will cost you about $300 in parts though...... It would be better to have the 89-90 ecu and distributor any way, there is an eprom chip for the governor removal for SOHC, but this only works for OBD1 ecu's, don't forget with SOHC pistons you really bump up your compression also...
Final note I would like to make is that we all do illegal thing's, I don't give a FU$% how innocent you or I act, "kind of like my 4 girlfriends; "there all bad liars".........
But as for my 5th girl "my ride" I would like to invest as little money as possible, "it is of course my only investment that will always depriciate", kind of like my girl friends that get ran through too much.....
So why deal with tickets and impounds if your caught, "it will just cost you more money" like I say use your descretion wisely..
when you lie to people, you lie to yourself as well.. Once the lie's get to big you are living a lie... Honor and integrity will set you all free.
What are you willing to pay for the lies you live........
Just like love is an emotion "like a drug", the extent of my love only goes so far, when it comes to my bit#hes or my ride...

raine....i understand that swapping motors is illegal and if you check i never said it was legal all i ever said was in michigan thier is no smog so your chances of getting caught are slim to none. i didnt mean hard *** in a dis-respectful way, i would hate to lead a newb on about somthing too, but when some one compares it to going 5 miles over the speed limit and your still on the illegal thing it just looks funny, maybe i misunderstood your point at first. the way it looked the first time i read it , it seemed like you were against all illegal activity's in a hard-*** kinda way, but like i said i understand your point about the newbs to......so no hard feelings..lol
as for big vinne im straight on trying to do all that damn work, i will proudly say im way to lazy and poor (i am only 17) for all that damn work...i drift just fine in my own personal set-up.lol :-) but i do all my own stuff and pay for everything own my own and im damn proud of it!!! :-)

hell...it may be illegal, but if I can get it in the country, in my car, and on the road, I'm gonna do it.....

I hit 120 on I-75 almost every night, I speed (other than the highway), I cut people off (only if they cut me off first! turn about is fair play), and I have an exhaust that can be heard for a mile on full throttle (Cut off valve in middle of the pipe, gurthy sound, not bee hive civic)....

so sue me

/me hugs Raine and tells him not to worry, he lookd up the word illegal
