All u have to do is remove the PS line from the pump. with the front wheels of the ground, get the extra fluid out by turning the wheel left and right, what i did was recap my pump and use the pully. its fine.

its sound easy because it really is. i dont plan on ever using ps so i cut my line all the way down to the Rack and pinion and caped them. You wanna have a lil fluid in the Rack N pinion because if not it will dry rot.

to cap the two lines i used bolts with 14 mm heads and forced them into the lines i forgot the thread pitch, but u will figure out.

ps

the crank to the water pump belt is not possible. theres no way to adjust it. another option is to get an electric water pump assembly.

also remove that gotd*mn PS fluid Resivor

You might also want to put some fluid in that pump, or eventually you are going to seize the pump. You are still having a rotating assembly inside that pump, and with it turning and no fluid inside, it WILL seize, and then burn up the belt. In turn leaving you stranded somewhere.

If this is really something you wish to do, do it corretly and not some jackassed way of doing it. Get a manual rack for the car, and a idler pulley setup for the p/s pump. This will still leave you belt tension capabilities, and an even better feel for the road.

Oh, and not to mention, when that pump seizes up (and it will, just a matter of time) that belt is going to do one of a couple of things. 1. Shread down to nothing and wrap around the rest of your acessories causing a real pain in the ***. Or its going to slip and slide all over the place, smoke and catch fire, then possibly catching your engine bay on fire.

I have seen personally both senerios happen in Mustangs, AE86s, Camaros, and several diff kinds of trucks.

Do the job right and don't take shortcuts. Shortcuts lead to big problems down the line.

hmm... i just put in my powersteering lines. It's kind of a pain when driving under 20 mph without them... not sure how removing them is gonna make parking easier for you. If you disconnected the wires (lines to pump) would that disable the powersteering?

My car has been with out PS for a Year
no problem, its not a shortcut if u know what u are doing. If you have the money to go spend on a manual rack. go ahead and buy it. My Rack is fine becuase i left fluid in it. and i converted the ps pump to a pulley my self. i just use the skeleton. All Ps pumps are not the same. IF u cap the PS pump right away there will still be fluid in it
