HUD reflection

Im picking up a new windsheild for my car but it would cost $700 for the special "HUD" one. the windshield i am getting is from a 1990 240sx fastback for $50.
My question is can i buy a special insert to put on my windshield so i dont have to spend 650$ more just to see my speed reflected off of it.

Anyone know of any?

Thanks,
Kyle

I would say- have a tint guy put a pieces of mirror tint in the spot where display goes- Having HUD myself, I often wondered what would happen if i cracked windshield. Actually just had a stone chip and had it filled immediatly for fear it would spider. Please keep us posted on how you make out.

Get in touch with an aftermarket seller of hud kits.

They should sell replacement tint for their kits and that will get you running.

Most tint guys won't tint a windshield because it's illegal in some or all places. That may or may not matter to you, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

Good luck,
Matt

mirror tint isnt noticeably draker than the rest of the windshield is it?
im sure a small patch on the windshield wouldnt qualify as dangerous.

anyone know of compayies or prople i could contact who supply aftermarket HUD's (if you have prior experence dont search out an awnser)

use the INQUIRY FORM and tell them you need a new "display film" for your VSD unit. When my bro needed a new one they didn't ask for proof of ownership, but he wrote it off as a company expense so I can't tell you what he paid for it

Spoke to my bro today and he said that you can also use a piece of reflective tint (the dark kind but with the "mirror" finish to it, whatever) but you have to put it on backwards. If you know a tint guy I'm sure he can come up with a small scrap for you.
