how do i turn on fog lights

Just bought a 1990 240sx a week ago and i can't seem to turn on my fog lights. Are they supposed to come on when you turn on the headlights or is there suposed to be a seperte switch? I was thinking maybe the bulbs are burnt out or the fuse is gone.
Any thoughts?

i don't think S13's came w/fogs. i know my 89 didn't. my guess is that they are aftermarket and they would have their own switch, unless someone wired them into main light switch (in which case, something is broke).

hmm. have you tried pushing the headlight button on the left of the steering colum under your speedo cluster? push that then turn on the lights on the lights thing on the left of the wheel...i remember when i first got it i was like, 'what the..' then i realized how to do it and i felt dumb.

but it might be a fuse/bulb. so check both out and hit us back up with the info.

still haven't figured it out. I guess they are daytime running lights so they should normally just come on with the headlights....i'll just take it into an electrician and he should figure it out cus i also want to get my cigarettle lighter fixed too.
thanks for the help though.

If youre talking about the ones at the bottom of the bumper then they turn on automatically when the car is started, if they dont try changing the bulb..
BTW..you seem new come on down to SON240sx...local (ontario) club.

if your cigarette lighter isn't working check your fuses, you have something wrong for sure.

They do come on when the car is started but only when the hand brake is released for the first time. If you're starting the car and going in front to see if they are on, just release the hand brake first. If they are not on then there are some electical problems (i.e. fuse, bulbs, wires, etc.). Also, they will only be on if the headlights are not on.

the only thing i can add to that is to make sure the car is out of P (if auto) and in N (again, if auto) and check for the lights. i've never owned a car that had both a manual tranny and DRL's (they either had on or the other), so i dunno bout a 5 spd... lol

thanks for the help. i'll try the hand brake thing but it surprises me that the handbrake would affect the daylight running lights...that weird but i'll try that too cus i have a manual trans. so i put on the handbrake then go check if the lights are on. I haven't had time to go to the electician but i'll keep you guys posted when i do.

hey, Doba's240, what is it www.son240sx.com i'm from toronto so i'd love to join.

might be easier if you do it at night in your driveway so you won't have to run in and out of the car. but most likely the bulbs are burnt out though, since they are on all the time. maybe last owner never changed them?
