gas octane

what do u guys run? i've been running 93 octane but it is so damn expensive (like $1.86/gallon!). i put in regular (isn't it like 87 octane) once and my car was noticeably slower (at least i think it was), so i haven't put it in since. i know the nissan recommends 93 and i know the science behind the higher octane gas and how it is better in some engines. what do u guys run?

run whatever your ECU is programed for. i always fill up with 87. if you use higher or lower octane without proper engine management all you will do is throw off your timing and screw yourself over.

The 240 gets 93 and I stick to Amoco and the Shell next to my job. I stick with the big names when I travel. The name doesn't always mean you are getting the best quality. Remember these stations are franchises so they can do whatever they want when not being checked upon.

There is really not that much of a difference in performance between 93 and 87. Not significant enough for you to notice at least. I ran premium for a while but decided it wasnt really worth the extra money. The 240 really runs fine on regular. I usually try to stay away from the lesser known stations, like Getty, Gulf, Coastal, Wawa(yes, there's a wawa gas station around here), Gasteria, and the like.
