I recently looked at a 92 s13 coupe and its in pretty decent condition. Engine is strong and everything. Small problem though the right frame rail has a hole in it right where the frame bends up towards the front by the wheel. The kid wants $1200 but i want to see if i can give him $700 cause it needs a new clutch and i can get the frame work done by the same guy who did eddys (donteventry's) for around $600. I know i know i can take a welding class and do it myself but my real question is... are there replacement frames that i can weld overtop of the existing frame after cutting out the rust? Like a machine punched frame rail that would sit overtop of it?


either that or are there eny other options... cause this is the only 240 i've found in a 100 mile radius of me.

 

i have never seen repop frame rails for or cars... the biggest problem there is the car is a unibody... frame and body are one unit... lots of parts welded together...even crash action parts does not list having a frame rail or assembly for our or any 240 for that matter... i would tell the kid he needs to come down cus the frame is rusted out... if there is rust there... where else is it??? the frame is a strong piece of metal and for it to rust... there is a problem or there is more rust hiding...

 

yea verry true... but its this or i'm be rollin in a 89' f-250. maybe an older prelude... who knows.

 

buy the 240... jack down the price get it fixed... roll that mother out and show him whut he had... remember i have 2 240's in my family... i want a 3rd...

 

mine has the same rust spot even though the rest of the car is really good. hey i have had 2 , to. a hatch and now my coupe that i love!!!

 

Doesn't sound too bad, but not for $1200. If he won't work with you on the price, walk. Drive the F250 around for a little while longer. Better than over paying on something you need to dump money into to fix rust, of all things.
