Does this sounds like AIR in the line to you?

Car: S13 240sx 5 speed.

Today I had an interesting experience to say the least.

No matter what I did with the clutch, clutch in or clutch out, and what I did with the ignition, car on or off, (and all the variation of these 4 variables) I could not put it into gear.

Here's the story if you're interested

went to get my car tested for emission. So I drove around for a little while to warm up the cat and then I pull in. They do the first test and everything is fine. Then the guy leaves it in nuetral and wait to start the 2nd test. The car won't go into any gear. Not 1.

I'm thinking wtf is going on. They push my car out and it was true. It wouldn't go into any gear. WTF WTF WTF. I turn the car off and it won't go into any gear. Clutch in clutch out won't go into any gear. I turn it on thinking the movement will get the syncros meching. No luck.

After playing around with it for a little while it just pops in like nothing happens. So I begin to pull away and I stop on a red light. Put the car into nuetral and AGAIN won't go into ANY GEAR. I had to grind it into 2nd as traffic behind me gathered.

Also while it was in gear it slipped alot. But it wasn't like WOT where it goes grip grip gip. slip. It was more like it engaged during the last 5% of the throw and then would slip slip slip.

I was to scared for it to lock out of gear again so I help the clutch down at all the lights. When the clutch was 100% disengaged it would making a *SHHHHHHH* sound.

I have no idea what could of caused this problem but it wasted nearly 2 hours of my day off so I'd like to know.

you might need a new pressure plate

I am willing to lay odds on a broken hub spring retainer that has allowed one or more of the springs to come loose and jam between the clutch and flywheel.

I'm listening to other potential causes.

It runs like new now. WTF.

That just means the spring has moved into a position where it isn't jammed (for the moment).

Does this sound possible to anymore?

"when they changed the clutch and didnt grease the input shaft. When it got hot, it would almost sieze onto the shaft, and she couldnt get it into any gears. If you let it sit a while to cool down, you could get it into gears"

one of my cars did this. It would not go into any gear at all.. sometimes though, it would for a little while... we took the tranny out, and the pressure plate was cracked, and 2 of the springs on the clutch were broken...one was acually completely gone.
