Arrow Clean all you rubber weather stripping for $3

Well, while working on my 95 240 sanding i decided to try and clean the rubber surrounding of all the windows and doors, which had 10 years of residue and mistreatment. The grim and stuff in it was nearly impossible to get off, even with a paint scrapper! So i tried using some brillo pads that were laying around in my garage, Voila! i threw a little water on them and scrubbed my ***** off.

The little steel wool hars inside of the pads mixed with their soap work great, and it wont scratch your window or paint if your hand slips. I would suggest this to everyone, it makes my cars rubber surrounding look brand new! Ill try n get u some before/after pics if it ever stops raining.

thanks for the tip! what soap did u use? after that you should also coat the rubber/weatherstripping with 303 rubber treatment.

actually i did not use a soap, I have this box of brillo pads that i added water to, I guess they had some soapy residue inside.
they are little squares with what looks like pink crap inside, good luck!

i would question the wisdom of using something that abrasive on rubber, it's just going to gouge it and make the rubber that you exposed (cuz you peeled off the old layer, that's why it looks new) get dirtyer faster. there are products out there for the rubber & black plastic on our cars, i'd highly recommend something designed for the application (or at least something less abrasive!)

Well, it probably could, in my particular case however i had a layer of grim i needed to get off, before i could even protect or try and treat the rubber, i couldn't even get it off with a paint scrapper, i was just offering a second chance method for stubborn residue removal.
