Check Engine Codes?

So how do you read them on the 240? I've got a scantool for every car I own (mustangs and crx), but I don't know how or where to begin on this 240. I have read the FSM and that pretty much got me no where as far as I'm concerned. I don't care for sticking a screw driver into my ECM. I'm sure there is an ODB port somewhere, but I don't know where.

I'm really suprised there isn't a sticky about this. On how to check engine codes...

That was a hell of a lot easier to understand than the FSM. Thanks!

Also, I am assuming there isn't a code scan tool avilable?

I'm not sure if the 95's are OBDI or OBDII but there is a diagnostic scanner available for the OBDIIs and the plug is under the driver side dashboard

No, I thought '95s were OBD I and then '96+ are OBD II. All I know is that my car is OBD II.

So only the odb2 cars have diagnotic ports on the 240? I know some of the earlier GM cars/trucks had them with odb1.

Alrighty then... got my ECU yanked out and got my codes. Throwing two of them. 12 and 13.

I know #12 is the MAF, no biggie there.

But the one I've never run across is 13. Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit. Any help with that one guys?

Hi, question, I wanna see if I can diagnose my 240's problem. I have a 92 coupe. Is that diagram for the lefts side where I would connect a scanner to? I know you can check out a scanner tool from autozone, would this be sufficient? What tool specifications should I look for?
Thanks,didn't mean to thread jack

The OBD1 cars only have the Nissan consult plug under the fuse box. The early cars didn't even have that. I'm not sure when the S series started coming with the consult port, but the KA24E cars didn't have it. The OBD2 cars will have the OBD2 Port, and the consult port. Only the dealership or an nProbe will work with the consult port.

This is the ODBII port. Found behind the stereo/on top of the transmission hump.
