anyone try acetone in their 240?
I posted this on a few other forums, and figured I could see what you guys thought?
Well, I started putting about 2.5oz per 10 gallons of premium gas in my tank... and noticed about 4mpg more in town.. pretty crazy that it works.. car acually runs better, and accelerates smoother... just thought we could have a little discussion on it.. here's a few links to pages that have done testing.

remember, 10 Gallons = 1280 Ounces... So 2.5oz of acetone isn't going to acually be enough to harm your fuel lines, and such..

just an fyi, acetone is very acidic, and although your using small amounts, in theory, over time it will start eating through things. (I.E. fuel lines, anything not metal) I dont think I'll be using that any time soon.

Im a biotechnology and biology major so ill try to give you somethings that i know about it...Acetone is used as a laboratory cleaner in most cases to cleaning out all instrumentation, and it is frequently used in experiments to dissolve in water, ethanol and other solutes. When being used as a solvent, it can dissolve solids, liquids and gas solutes and many proportions. It has a boiling point of 134*F and is a colorless mobile flammable liquid. Just a few facts of the top of my head for you. I have also heard the discussion about how not only Acetone but alot of other mild chemicals can be good for gas mileage. My suggestion is to not try this at the current moment until further studies are done with documentaed evidence that it is safe for your vehicle. Although it has not shown to be harmful for the internals at the present moment, Acetone will strip any inorganic substance that is in its path most likely due to its nature. It progessively get worse over time and may actually 'eat away' so to speak your engine. Again i wouldny try this until a long term study has been done...
to not totally discount this thread here an article favoring the use of Acetone in car engines. Hopefully this is a bulletproof idea! http://www.lubedev.com/articles/additive.htm
