92' 240sx HUD problems

I have a 92' 240sx with HUD. When it is cold weather HUD, speedometer and dash lights don't work. When the temerature is hot outside everything works great. Does anyone have any clues as to why this would happen?

lol... there is a bunch of posts on this one... soon your hud and speedo will stop working all together... it is a bad capacitor in the speedo that causes everything else in the dash to stop working... no dash lights no odometer and no speedo... the way to fix it is posted somewhere in the forums... search is a good idea... or you can go to nissan and buy a new speedo for 230ish bucks...

Was able to fix the problem by replacing a 1uF 50V capacitor. Cost me .25 cents. Speedo works great now . If anybody needs details send me a message.

Correction my little friend:
The speedo for the models 91-......(DOHC) go for about 160.00 dollars. The speedo for 89-90 is about 220.00 dollars, like you stated.....for the record. Yes the capacitor fix is common, but I had two HUD's that were beyond repair and had to buy new ones.... But now I have spare parts....

I guess I was luck that capacitor fix worked for me. Didn't have to spend $160, but got away with .25 cent capasitor and a day worth of work to take the cluster apart and put it back together.

My speedo lights flickered on and off when the heater was on..... HUD didn't work at all that is usually associated with the capacitor replacement. If the RPM gauge stop working there are more serious issues.

Just found out yesterday I have a more serious problem with my digital cluster board.........
It went out again accept this time I had 3 lines running through the display..........
Called my boy Monk at antioch Nissan, you can buy the digital assembly board for $53.00, my shiat will be runnin in under 3 day's from now........
When I told him the cost of the Mr.Wizard repair for $169.00 we both agreed that MR.Wizard is a scam artist and thief.......
Don't be retarded to fall for rediculously high prices in shabby repair work, just get a new board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree, why pay that much when you can fix it for much cheaper. My problem was fixed by a capacitor replacement and that cost me .25 cents.

I guess mine went bad again I couldld find the right 1uF, and my .47uF was out also and so were 2 100uF's, everything on that board is pretty much 50volt....
I guess mine went bad again because I used a capacitor that goes into a audio passive crossover, it was a 1uF, 50volt straight through I probably just had the polarity wrong on the circuit board.
I'll leave pics of the work I did........Give me a sec.....
