Unhappy 50/50.....legallism....perfomance !?

guys, i'm so confused...i've searched this forum a lot. i was looking for sr.vs.ka stuff...and i found that the ka makes more power...but the sr is better at redline...so better for drift....but there's also this other issue that came up...."ka24deT's are illegal and sr20's are too common" stuff like that. i really posted this thread to get more up to date information on this.

Id say leave the expensive, risky and illegal engine swap for the daredevils

ok first of all the sr is a better motor over all. it makes more power over all and is more reliable motor. Tha ka does make more torque but if u plan on turboing it your going to need to reinforce the internals because the block walls are so thin that u'd make some nice holes in it if your running 2much boost. its very possable to get a sr in cali and even tho u need 2 get it smogd every 2years just find a shop that will pass u. most of the time they dont know what a sr is so they will pass u cause the sr runs very very clean. the swap is pritty easy to do mostly a drop in. the hardest part would b the wireing.

they are both great motors the sr requires more work and its the same price as a ka24de turbo kit and the ka turbo makes more power, like 50 more hp for the same price, throw in some nice cams and the ka has a nice top end and there is no wiring to do. all in all i concider the ka turbo the better motor. and about reliability the ka is very reliable if you keep the boost below 9psi which will give you about 250 hp

if he wants it to be legal and make more than the SR, then get the Greddy kit and intercooler, dont go too much over the initial boost setting though; the block is thin

tell ya what...do what ya want with it, then move here..we do not hav annual inspections or smog control...makes things rather nice for building cars with power...although I am sure soemday hen the politicians here figure they can make some good money at it they will have smog checks here as well

in the long run the sr is a better car. it has more tuning choices and its more original. i'd rather hav that in my car than a truck motor/ka
