YEah SR in.......WTF?
So I finished wiring up the sr hooked up all the hoses tranny and everything. connect the battery..........
*.'*SPARK*.'*
UH
Now i hear the sound of what seems to be my oil pump spinning up but the lights on the front side marker light really dim and the interior dome light is really dim..........................
Remove power from battery everything stops, do it again and the same thing occurs.
didn't try to crank it as i don't want f-up anything and not sure what will happen.
WHAT IS THE WHIRRING NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE MY OIL PUMP?

Update:
The windshiel wipers turn on when the key is set to the on position on the ignition.
Still makes the whirring noise as if the oil pump is primering or something. (It just sound slike the oil pump)

Damicci2001: it was making a weird noise when i connected the battery
Damicci2001: so.... i took it off tried again
Damicci2001: same thing
Damicci2001: finally noticed there are two solenoids on the starter i have no clue which one to use so i tried both
Damicci2001: only did it on one solenoid then i notice there was ground coming from the actual starer
Damicci2001: tried with the ground and the solenoid nothing
Damicci2001: hooked to missing plugs by the pos battery terminal now i got power but now it won't start or crank and the starter is hot as hell,,, and the noise went away
Damicci2001: so now i get power but noise or anything from the starter
Damicci2001: <---- moron

When you were doing all this battery connecting.....was the key in the ignition and in the on spot????? If it was the whirring sound is your fuel pump. My RB did that with the starter just going off with the battery connected and it was because the starter had power from the wrong source, it has to be run off of the starter relays. They way the starter circuit works(in case you didn't know) is, when you turn the key in the START spot it clicks the relay which gives the starter wire power. when it starts and you let off of the key and back into the ON spot, it closes the relay and there is no more power. You need to make sure that the starter is in fact hooked up to the relay. With the lights being dim you could just have low power on your battery. When you hear that clicking when you turn the key thats your relays. On the 89-90's at least there are the starter relays right next to the battery usually mounted on the wall right next to the windshield washer fluid tube thingy. IM me @ NISMObuttnutz if you need more help.
