ok... so are we talking about daily driven kadet and daily driven sr's here???...

if so like you posted, not everyone wants 300hp+ or 400hp+...
some people dont want to have to build internals to gain these certain numbers... i might just want a turbo that spools pretty quick and isnt unreasonable expensive... example s15 ball bearing for some drift action...

Pistons - $500
Rods - $700
Balancing - $200
Valves - $320
Springs and Retainers - $320
Cams - $350

equals 2890
all this for a KA
not including turbo

or how about

$800 for s15 ball bearing turbo
$500 for injectors maybe less?
$700 for a frnt mount
$3xx for boost controller...
$600 for some rom tuning hardware provided

equals 350rwhp any day...

iam not trying to prove that anything you are saying is wrong Night... but for certain people the sr is somewhat the more reasonable way to go...

hell having a 350rwhp daily driven car with ac and power steering will eat up a good amount of street cars on there...:-) not that iam saying you SHOULD be doing this lol...keep it to the track..

as for you running 13's in the track on an N\A KA...its possible

What about the SR it self? The KA came stock so you wouldnt have to add that in..but the SR didnt so thats a good 2500-3500 right there.

Why would they? They have a Silvia with the stock turbo already. Why would they pay to have a ka shipped from the US and then rebuild the engine and then slap a turbo on there?
Wouldn't make any sense. Doesn't mean that the KA isn't as good as an engine as the SR, it's the practicality.

And Night is my hero.
I like the RB engines.

I have to agree, it would be pretty dumb for the Japanese to ship a KA over...it's been done before, I've seen it in a Silvia in Japan all done up and turboed, but it's rare. A lot of people like the KA's in the 510's...they carburate them (however you spell it)...and make em badass.

all i know is that i want a vq35de or a vq32deTT (with displacemnet on demand tech :-D) the vq32 is supposidly the new Nissan GT-R motor, I think that displacement on demand is gonna be sweet, its not like a vavle time tech, it acualy adjustes the stroke... thats just all sorts of cool.. but since it isnt 05/06 i guess ill have to wait till a couple of years after that so the motor will be some what comon in junk yards....

this has turned more into a KAT vs SR fight people, and we all know we've been over this. To each their own, all are great paths.

one of the reasons i have always looked more at doing a SR rather than a KA-T is that there is an abundance of information on the SR and tons of time proven parts that can be bought for it. I have yet to see this information for the KA-t. you have a list of parts with prices but which ones are your referring too. which pistons for 500, which rods for 700...so on and so forth and what are other choices for those same parts with what advantages and what disadvantages.

for most ppl that want to have a cool car its easier to follow the tried and true route. then to head down unexplored terroritory. a lot of ppl that are into this stuff dont neccessarily know as much as you guys about engines, and wouldnt have a clue what parts to pick to do what.

go to www.ka24de.com I go down the road less traveled, that's my thing. I go against the trade route because I am not a trendy person...I'll start a trend instead of joining one. You can make a lot of HP with the SR, but most people are only looking for a 12 second car...that's between 230-270whp to be from top 12's to mid/low 12's. That is extremely easy on the NA KA. 350+ is plenty achievable for the $3000. In a few months after my engine is completely finished, I'll dyno it, show parts costs, etc... and show people how cheap it is.
