Where in Vancouver can i get an SR20DET?

Im currently looking at getting a new car. I need to take my BMW off the road to work on it.

I was looking at getting a 1992 240SX, but i dont liek to drive anything that is not forced induced. So i would like to do the SR20DET swap, but i dont know where in the Lower Mainland/ vancouver area i can pick one up. I would liek the engien, tranny, and all wiring and such for the engine.

If possible i would like to get it installed as well. I could do it myself but would rather leave that up to someone who has already done that.

So if anyone has a sugestion on this i would greatly appreciate it.

Tim

Hi, we're about 45 minutes south of the blaine border crossing. We have several swaps due in soon you can check out my post in the vendor section. I can also install the swap we have a reasonable shop rate of $40/Hr USD.

So give me a price raneg i would be looking at if i wanted a stock SR20DET put into a 93 Twin Cam 240sx.

The total price for everythign, including labour and taxes.

Just a ball park figure so i kbow how much i need to be spending.

Ok to give you a accurate quote I need to know a few more things about your car. A/C? Power Steering? Do you want things like belts, hoses, clutch, etc replaced, wiring neatly buttoned up. or just drop it in, make it run and you'll put on the finishing touches? Are you interested in a package deal with front clip, LSD, larger brakes(Most Silvia's come with larger front disc's), or just the bare bones swap? The swap itself isn't very hard just the small things like custom lines and sourcing replacement parts take alot of time and money. I think your P/S lines will work being you have a DOHC car, both the 240's I've swapped were SOHC and required custom lines. Let me know you can e-mail me or reply here.

I woudl like to retain the power steering, but A/C i can sacrifice. I live in vancouver so its not that big of a deal. But for the sake of just having it might as well keep it.

I think i would just want the swap itself. No frills.

I would be replacing the brakes and such myself, i just dont want to be bothered with swapping in the engien right now.

So i guess, power steering, and AC, and just toss it in and make it run.

Ok, we'd be looking at around $2395 for a complete redtop front clip, or $2650 for a blacktop S13 front clip. We can do the install including the side mount intercooler and everything to get you rolling in about 2 days, so I'd estimate the labor/fluids around $600-$800. Depending on the condition of your DE we may be able to offer you some credit on your old engine towards the SR20 swap as well. Total you'd be looking at around $3000-$3250 installed and ready to go. I'll have to see if I have to charge you tax I'm not sure on that one.

That dosent sound too bad. Doing a full turbo kit and all the mods to a KA24DE would cost about the same as the swap.

Sorry to sound liek a newbie, but what is the difference between the blacktop and the red top SR20's? Why is the black top more than the red top?

thats 3250 in USD?
So thats like 3900 CDN?

Also, if i got a stroker kit for the SR20 (2200cc stroker kit) would you be able to install that or do the engines come fully assembled and ready to drop in? If they are already assembled i can do the stroker kit myself.

Hi, these engines are used from Japan, and it comes in the form of the whole front 1/2 of the car with the entire engine/trans, harness, computer, everything in a complete car 1/2 cut. The blacktop is the same HP, but is a 1994-1998 engine which is newer and is rumored to have a better bottom end. The redtops were about a 1990-1993 engine. The $3250 would be USD. I'm not sure what the exchange is right now. I have to warn you that we were visited by the owner of a Portland performance shop and they are considering buying ALL of our Nissan swaps and a couple of Honda's once the container arrives(this friday estimated). Not a sales pitch or anything just a heads up because we're going into summer and these will all sell as fast as I can get them. I don't have any motor building equipment, I'd recommend a engine machine shop to install the stroker kit or run them as is, they're strong engines in stock form, a couple of our local customers are running 14.0's on stock boost and another one 13.6 on 10 PSI. They go up to Mission often maybe you've seen them run if you watch or race there?

Thanks, Ryan
