Vq35de(tt?)
i was just wondering if anyone has seen a VQ35DE (350Z powerplant) or a VG30DETT (300zx powerplant) swapped into a 240. I know a guy that has a rear-end totaled 350Z and i could prob pick the front clip up for cheap. I don't know hoe it would fit but since an L4-DOHC engine (ka or sr) and even a straight-six (RB series) has been swapped, the VQ seems like it would be an easy fit , since it is only 3 cylinders long, but it would be wider, and i'd need to runs 2 headers. Also how would the VQ35DE compare to an older VG30DETT? If i swap the VQ35, i will also plan to go TT in the next year or so (if it will fit)...............so the question is....FEASIBLE OR NOT??

i think for the price of all that extra custom work to put it in a 240 u could just buy a used 350. then tt that later. sure it wouldnt be as unique as a vq35'd 240 but it would be mechanically sound. if no ones ever done this swap theyr may be a reason. feasible or not its gonna cost u big bucks

Yeah its feasible. I saw it in one of the import magazines. They took a VG35 out of a maxima and stuck it in there. The 30 and the 35 have the same horspower, but the VG has more torque and more potential. It was a pretty comlicated swap. The biggest issue is the electronics. The VG uses a comletely different type of EMS so its alot of work, and none of your gauges work. I think it would be so sick to have a VG35DETT in a 240, but i just think the amount of work isnt worth it when you could just throw the RB26 in there with ALOT less work, and about the same starting power with even more potential. But if you are one of those people who strive to be unique and have a bunch of extra dough, go for it man!
