the olny other AWD Nissan is the Pulsar GTI-R
it uses an SR20
the option of an AWD S chassis is all about money.
i've never even heard of someone attempting to accomplish this feat.
$90,000+ for a 99 or around $28 for a 32
those are your olny options unless you really wana try the other route. it is possible and you'd mostlikly be one of the first.
i have a few good speculations on the issue if you'd really like to try this option

u can still put that motor in a RWD car i think, isnt there a transfercase after the tranny and thats from where the front wheels get power via a shaft, if this is so i think u can just get rid of the transfercase.

if he wanted to use the RB26 motor he would use that with an RB25 tranny

There were AWD Stanza wagons here in the states... maybe you could grab one of those and a CA18DET.

For the money likely involved in the RB26DETT AWD swap in a 240 - you're better off buying a Skyline. They start a little over $20k, which the swap could easily cost you.

So, bottom line is if you can't afford a used Skyline, you can't afford the AWD RBswap either.

RB26DETT

Justin,

Hate to tell ya, but the RB26DETT can be done rather easily in a 240SX providing you know what you are doing. The most expensive part is the engine or clip. Installation costs are usually about $8000 from most shops which is a complete rip off. I can do these swaps although they are a bit more complicated than the RB25DET. And....GTR Skylines start at $28,000 from Motorex who also charges way too much for cars!

dude, maybe you misunderstood him. he said a rb26 AWD (repeat AWD) (repeat AWD) (that stands for ALL WHEEL DRIVE). thats not easy.

SPITZ AWD AWD AWD

Hey Spitz....let me ask you something

Nissan makes diferent version of their cars in AWD....I.E. Skyline, Pulsar, Sentra.....and I've heard of a few 300Z's with AWD in Japan as well. Now, if they can do that and the Skyline shares almost the exact same suspension setup as the 240, what makes you think going AWD in a 240 is hard???

First off, AWD means that all four wheels drive, which requires two differentials and two sets of half shafts. Now, on the RB26DETT, which I doubt you've seen up close, the front differential mounts underneath the engine....it uses a shaft from the tranny to the differential in order to make it spin.

NOW, with the presence of a Skyline Clip which has that engine, AWD tranny, and half shafts for the front, what's keeping you from doing the AWD conversion? Nothing, all you have to do is swap out the front suspension....not too hard, takes a few hours....

Exclamation ok.....

aight.....heres my two cents.....you can buy a nissan skyline GT-S....for 18,000 in America....now thats freaking cheap.....and who cares if its not a GT-R...buy the RB26DETT and put the mother ***er in it.....now im not big on the skylines...only being i know ill never have one...so im not sure if it will work....but from my point of veiw anything is possible....as long as you have duct tape.....
