RB26DETT Swap or Upgrade SR20DET

I have a 240sx with a SR20DET in it. It's not runnin like it should so I was thinking of going ahead and putting the RB26 in there. I could just have the SR20DET taken to a Machine Shop and have it upgraded. (Cleaned, bore and hone, aftermarket sleeves, decking and resurfacing, O-ringing,Align Hone, Cylinder Head Reconditioning, etc.) The whole process would cost about 3500, I think a RB26DETT would cost around that. What ya'll think?

rb26 would cost much more than 3500. you might be able to get an engine set for that, but then you need engine mounts, driveshaft, RWD trans... and the list goes on.

hey Heely i live in cincinnati too i got a s13 with an sr20 in it i just moved here is there a good scene here?

yeah and just work on the sr, rb will be expensive and a lot more work. sr could easily out perform an rb26 with that much money into it

I'd say stick with the SR, for $3500 you wont get much of the RB26

what are your goals for you 240? track car, drag car, drift car. Both of these motors have advantages and drawbacks depending on the outcome you are looking for.

when you said the sr isn't running like it should, do you mean it could use a tune up? or not making the power you want?

the rb26 runs over 6k for a swap iirc. should just stick with the sr i think. what mods you got on your engine now? and whats the car going to be used for? any power goals in mind?
