Which subframe do you use? The factory one with no modifications? Nice pics by the way, have you ever run the quarter?

1/4

Yes, I have run the 1/4. I ran a 15.2 @ 93 mph before I got LSD and was doing a burn out the whole way down the track. When I added a Nismo LSD and Iridium spark plugs I ran a 12.9 @110 mph. My highest that I have run on stock boost before my turbo was fried was a 12.6 @ 114, guess I got lucky. Thanks for the compliments, yes R33 stock subframe.

Nicely done....

Looks like you had a Zenki RB25DET. With the Ceramic turbine.
What you got in place of it now?

So the R33 subframe bolts in directly or was modification required?

Nice job on the install.

No modification needed, just stock R33 subframe. I still have the ceramic turbo, which is fried, but have a HKS T51 on the way from Japan.

I have to say congrats on the swap and I am also very interested in that swap. But are you worried about getting parts for it or have you found a place that can supply them to you?? That is one of my biggest worries is not being about to find parts for it or even a oil filter. Was it direct bolt in with the R33 subframe or did you have to do some little stuff. These reason I am asking is cuz me and a friend would be doing the swap and I dont want to F*CK it up. Also why did you chose the RB25DET and not the RB20DET or the RB26DETT, yes I dont know a whole lot about nissan's....yet.

I am not worried about parts because I am a dealer and I also have friends in Japan that can supply me with parts. You can get parts from any dealer that carries companies like Greddy, Apexi, Blitz, HKS, etc... It would just be special order. Oil filter = 300ZX N/A

Using the R33 subframe, it was a direct bolt in. Here's my story on the RB25DET.

I went to a nearby shop that had engines and was going to find myself a good ol SR motor cause I thought there was nothing else. I got to the shop and no one was there....so I gave the guys a call and asked em if they had any SR's.....they said no. I asked if they had any other Nissan motors, they said, yeah, a Skyline RB25DET clip. I said "will that fit in a 240SX???" They said, "don't know, but it would be cool if it did." So I picked it up the next week and installed it although there was no info posted on any forum about the swap at the time and I couldn't find anyone who had done it.

That's how I got my 25. It's easier to do than the 26, is most cost efficient for HP, and responds to mods just like the 26. The 20 has much smaller pistons and doesn't respond to mods well until you bore it out pretty big.

eh...

holy crap man.. i'd definitly like to do something like this to a 240 but.. forgive me for my ignorance/lack of knowledge, what the heck is a r33 subframe? how long did it take you to do this and how much did it cost you? and absolutely positively no custom cutting/welding of any metal?

hey,

from melbourne in australia, and have a yellow S13 nissan silvia, with the same motor being installed. dont have pics, but hope i can a digi cam soon.

I used the r32 crossmember, and some frame. worked for me. but i didn't try the r33 one. theres not much room in the front for a radiator or thermo fans, which is a bit of hassel. i only have a
9 cm gap.

mods i have for mine are:

3 inch stainless steel dump pipe, with 1 1/2 inch screamer pipe, into a 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust system with 3 inch hi flow cat, and apexi N1 rear muffler.

hks front mount intercooler, with veilside bodykit.

air intake, hot plugs, 600 hp bosch fuel pump,and thats all for the moment.

problems i am facing at the moment are with the wiring of it.
i have a few wires which just dont connect to anything. e.g r33 lume not connecting to the silvia lume. in particular in the lights lume.

my car is rh drive so its a bit of different setup with the brakes, master booster is on the other side to yours. wondering what brakes u used. i have r33 brakes but they seem very complicated to adapt. with new axles and 5 studd hubs and all.

mine is auto DOH! but i dont know what gear box mount to use. the r33 one only bolts up to 2 out of 4 holes.

any help would be much appreciated, but nice car. i am hoping to run a 13.0 with the auto.

cheers

I really don't know where to start with this one. Auto is not my style and I have never dealt with RHD cars. I didn't integrate the RB and 180SX harness except for at the ignition.....if you go that route I can help you out a bit.

The RB25 has .5 more litres then the RB20 and the RB26DETT doesn't fit in a 240 unless you swap to a single turbo.

RB20 = 2.0 litres
RB25 = 2.5 litres
RB26 = 2.6 litres
DET = One Turbo
DETt = Twin Turbo

Hope that helps. As far as why Night did the swap....Becuase he's got *****...big ones and I like it. (I am talking about the swap of course)
