rb20det modifaction
YES! i have used many search bars, and lets just say,im a wealth of knowledge now, well since i was 2 days ago i have learned alot just by reading,i have read that the RB20DET is a bit long when swapped into a 240,so you cant use the stock fan and you have to relocate the radiator,if anyone else wants to reply with any other minor modifacations, pleae do.also i have found that if you simply turn the tranny mount backward it would fit fine, and the handling is no different from a stock KA24E(D).i hope i answered somepeoples questions, because i like to spread some knowledge, even if its very little,i know alot of people know about RB'S in here and have installed them, for example SHIFT knows his stuff,im just asking for u guys to reply with anything i have missed to fit the rb20det in the 240sx.oh ad please,no smart comebacks,i think ive had enuff of them.
Thanks
Thanks

radiator fits fine in it's normal location. and flipping the tranny mount is ...well lets just say not the way to do things.
forget anything that you have read about rb's under the screen name night. not saying everything he says is wrong ,just alot of it.

BTW, the handling is different, I dind't think so til I drove my friends KA240, then went back to mine.

so u are saying
so you are saying that all the mounts are fine, and there is no modifacation needed?so now i know that the stock radiator fits fine, and the tranny mounts fit fine, what about the engine mounts?so it sounds like to me that it simply bolts up fine from u guys, unless i ma missing something, thanks

if you use the stock crossmember and don't do any weight reduction on the nose of the car then yeah it will handle different.
but use uh mounts and gut alot of stuff up front then no it won't effect any handling.

That 500 would be wasted. I made my mounts for 8$ and about a 1/2 hour of labor. The crossmember makes it the easiest and cheapest, being that you have a clip, it doesn't cost anything to get it to bolt up. The way I made mine was I took 1/8 steel plates, cut it to be about 8 inches long, and about 3 inches wide. I drilled holes at each end at a certain distance apart(I can't remember how far apart) and made a notch so it wouldn't twist. I know it sounds flimsy as hell but it isn't, they work very well actually. and it sits low and about 2 inches away from the firewall, and the crank pully sits about a fist length away from the R32 radiator.

I"ve done pretty much everything with the car since it's been done, no problems at all with them. I didn;t machine the metal, I just cut it and drilled the necessary holes. It looks flimsy and like it doens;t hold, but it does very well, barely torques at all.
And yeah, I used the stock mount location for the tranny mount, but used the mounts on the RB tranny. From the looks of it they are the same.
