This was the longest swap in history. I hope it was worth it.

It's only the longest swap because I hadn't done it before and I have a business to run-so imagine the phone rings customers walk in while I'm wrenching my car every 20 minutes. The swap is done in one day if you know what you are doing and have all the parts on hand.

My swap took almost 7 months due to a head explosion.....

Ryan beat my first swap time by a long shot!

Good job, dont let the bastards grind you down!

The guy we sold a RB20 to did his swap in about 2 days. Jon's replacement engine got stuck in the foreign trade zone when we were going rounds with US Customs, that's why his swap took so long. For all you SR guys this last swap we pulled the SR and installed the RB, and it's faster:grin:

So is it up and running. I have an altima and am a member on that board, but recently decided to turn the Altima into a Daily driver/show car and get a 240. After seeing how easy it is to do a RB20 swap i might just go ahead and do that instead of the SR that everyone else does. First step getting the engine, well getting money would be first.

Anyway, so is it up and running, can we see some more pics, maybe a slip and a video to see her in action.

Mine is awaiting the turbo replacement, my buddies is up and running. He lined up against our area's fastest SR swap, and they ran nose to nose thru the first 2 gears, but then the RB started to pull on the SR in 3rd. The RB20 was at stock boost the SR is running 10PSI but it creeps to 14 when he's in it hard. I'm not up with technology/finances to provide movies or stuff like that but I can provide some slips provided the last drag even this friday doesn't rain out. Alot of our customers are going to run.

I had a T3 .63A/R Exhaust side and a T4 50 trim compressor. The new one coming is the same except a 57 trim compressor. I'm using the stock wastegate actuator so I should be running around 10PSI. You can bolt up this turbo to the stock manifold and oil drain, but expect to do a earls oil feed line, and custom intake/downpipe, and wastegate actuator bracket if you are going to run internal.

cool cool
i am thinking about doing either a
RB20
FJ24 (would be very hard to get and get parts for)
FJ20 (ditto)
7MGTE

I want something in the middle turbo wise, and last time iwas looking at turbos, i was looking at a T3-60 i think thats right. Not too big to where i couldn't use it on the street and not to small to where i couldnt use it on the track. I think that if my sources are good and i find a decent 240 and engine that after about $6000 i would have a pretty fast 240 no matter what engine.

The 7M is a turd and has headgasket and head warping problems, + it's a toyota. I wouldn't go there. The RB20 is a pretty easy bolt in and they don't cost that much.

Agreed.

The only reason it is that much is because they know that people will buy them. They make lots of power. I see supra all the time pushing 600-1100 hp. But the RB26 i dont see alot of people doing that. I really dont know why they are selling those so high.

I have thought of doing an RB20 or RB25 into my Altima or a 240.
The altima would have been the perfect sleeper. But that would have cost me so much and a would another car to get around so it just easier and more cost efficent to get the 240. Unless i get a great job that pays good or a spondsor ship to do that to an Altima thats not going to happen.

So back to the RB20. Whats the stock bottom end like. Is it strong like my KA24. Or will it need some work to run boost. Prob like 8 on the streets, then 12 or so on the track.

Thanks for all the info and help.

Altima is FWD
RB is RWD
Won't work

RB26 is REGULARLY over 600-1100 HP. You dont see it that much because you dont live where they are prevelant(Australia...Japan...etc...)

The RB20 runs 10PSI stock, so running 8 wont hurt it one bit. 12 wont either.

I know my altima is FWD, but i have seen people convert to RWD with an SR so i know its possible with an RB. The only thing that i think that would make it more costly is the fact that the RB is an in-line 6 and i would have to extend the front of the car, there would be some major body work done. But none the less, that would be an awesome sleeper.

The RB runs 10psi stock. i didnt know that. It wasnt till recently that i have started looking into the RB. It will take me some time to find some good sites to get all the info. About how much hp should i expect with 10psi, with nothing to fancy on the rest of the engine, new radiator, FMIC, e-manage, and a turbo with about the same specs as yours. I will add that i will use this car to race, so i will have this car on a diet if you know what i mean.
