Opinions Of RB26 Swap
We'll I have my car up for sale now and after it's sold I want to do a RB26 swap into a 95+ 240. I've been hearing that since it's a 6cyl it puts more weight to the front and you'll just spin without drag radials and good suspension set up. Also, I've heard that it messes up the handling of the car. Now, the reason why I wan't to do a RB26 swap is so I can do just minor work and still have a decently fast car, but I still want to be able to have decent handling. I'm willing to buy a good suspension set up and some good drag radials. Will having the rb in it really mess the handling up that bad? Also, does anyone have any times of a relativly stock rb26 in a 240? Thanks.

Search.
I'd imagine it would handle somewhat different than with the stock engine... you're adding probably another 300lbs up there? I'm not sure the weight.. I think a stock rb26dett would run somewhere in the 13's... remember, they're only 276hp stock, untill you start the change some stuff, like better intakes, exhaust, boost controller and such if you don't want to open the engine.
If you're going to have that much power in your car, you'd been an idiot not to upgrade your suspension and brakes... the power needs somewhere to go, and you need to be able to stop. Make sure you're getting a 240 with and LSD and what not.. and also, make sure you have A LOT of money for this project... it's not just a plug in play...
You might want to research some other engines such as rb25det and see that they're just as good of an engine, and a lot easier to swap.. but it's still difficult.. Also, look into turbo'ing the KA24DE the car comes with.. people are making 400HP+ without putting that much money into them, at least compared to an rb swap. the search button is your friend here.
so basically, if you HAVE to do an engine swap and you want an RB series engine, I would personally go with an RB25DET. It's still an Inline 6 Turbo with 250Hp stock, and quite a bit of aftermarket, and easier install than an RB26DETT, with a lot of potential.. but this stuff is going to cost you money.. a lot.

Stock RB26 head/block is good for ~600WHP before you need to start modifying things, like the combustion chamber on the bottom of the head. Stock head creates hotspots that lead to detonation at around 600HP.
I have seen ~400HP at the wheels on basically stock RB26, ~7090cc/min injectors, large FMIC and good tuning/standalone. Right around 14PSI on stock turbos.

Thanks for the replies and I have been searching on the subject. The whole reason I wanted to do an rb26 was so I can do basic bs stuff like you guys said and have a decently fast car without having a lot of problems. Also, if I did do the swap I would definatly do a very good suspension, and upgrade the breaks to get the best performance out of it.

hears a tip. save yourself alot of money, buy an RB20 get a few things for it, (FMIC, boost controller, SAFC, upgrade turbo and injectors) and be running the same times for about 1/4 of the money. All the money you will spend on that RB26 will be wasted on just trying to get it running, when yuo could save thousands of dollars, and some weight, by going with an RB20 and making it a very nicely tuned rocket.
