i need ur opinion

hey
i drive an ae86 SR5 rite now and i've only done basic stuff to it:

installed gts rear end
swapped in FC brakes
installed shocks

this was all from knowledge that ive gained from the internet... I DID NOT HAVE THE BLESSING OF A DAD WHO KNOW HIS AUTOMOTIVE STUFF. hehe

neway heres my question... do u think it would be worth it for me to swap the sr20 in? i have around $4k to spend on the swap and i will be doing it completely on my own. perhaps a couple of hallmates will help me out, but it will be mostly for my learning experiece... wut can i say... i like to know that i am self-sufficient.

i appreciate ur input and sorry for the long post hehe.

i saw a 20v 4ag around earlier. if i were you i'd at least stick with a toyota motor. a celica GTS motor would be pretty sweet in that car. high revs 180HP. weeeee

or do you have to stay rwd?

hey
i forgot to mention that im getting a new 240sx to put the sr20 into hehe sorry bout that.

btw... celica gts motor? iono wut motor the celicas came in but im sure the 20vs came from the ae101 levins hehe. but yeah those r hella sweet motors, but the thing is that wen u put those in, something goes wrong (not too sure wut cuz i never really looked into 20vs) that makes ur car dyno at around 120hp, even tho it makes 165 to the crank. i dont think there should be that much loss through the drivetrain... hehe

haha ok then.

i guess it would depend on your goal for the car. the SR20DET seems to be the premiere motor to swap in for power. there's a few others that i can't exactly remember the engine codes for.

there's been alot of talk of swapping a RB25DET (skyline R33 motor) in but it's not nearly as easy as the SR and would be better suited for drag racing as it's quite a bit heavier (60-70lbs i was told. that's alot of weight in nothing but an engine).

if you want all the power possible this is prolly the way to go. if you're looking for something that will handle well and still hold it's own on the drags (well balanced) then i'd go for the SR20DET or the CA18DET (is that right?) was also mentioned. if you have something against turbo's you can get naturally aspirated versions of it as well. i think the NA motor's code is SR20VE and SR20DE but i'm not sure at all on that.

gonna need someone else to clear this up though.
