HELP! questions doing swap
This is going to be my first swap. I am trying to get the SR20DET motor out and off the front clip. I encountered some problems .....
1. I disconnected the harness from the ECU. Now, how the heck do you snake the harness through the firewall? Do I have to take out the dash? How and what is the best way to do this?
2. Where the heck is the transmission drain plug located?
3. Lastly, anybody have info on how to do the harness conversion? What wires need to be lengthened and what wires need to be moved from one pin to another?
All help is appreciated.................... Thanks

1) The best way is to kinda "lay" the plug down to go along the wires. It's hard to describe but, if you push the plug through the firewall the long way, it'll go in. It takes some manuevering, but it'll go through. You definitely don't have to take out the dash.
2) The tranny drain plug is located in front of the tranny crossmember. It's round and takes a 3/4 male square socket. The filler plug is on the left side and it takes a 3/4 female square socket.
3) The AFM and o2 sensor wires must be lengthened. Then there are wires by the battery that must be relocated and the wiring harness under the dash must be cut and rewired. I think 8 of the 16 or 20 wires have to be rewired, but you must use that part of the USDM harness because the JDM harness doesn't fit in. IIRC, it wsa male/male.
Good luck.

sorry, lol.
I didn't do my wiring. I absolutely hate wiring. A couple years installing car stereos will do that to you (and your fingers ).
