i am all honda, but i want to start playing with some real cars now.
i have all the honda cars figured out. what i want to know is the engines usdm and jdm and the cars they came from. for example, what is in the 85 300zx turbo car? i know it is a inline 6 single turbo but will it work in my car? (95 240sx)

Moved to engine swaps section, post in the right section please

In a 240sx...you can fit CA18s, SR20s(S13 and S14 with minimal mods, S15 with some high modifications), RB20s with minimal mods, RB25s with moderate modifications, RB26s with moderate-high modifications. 1JZ and 2JZs can fit also, but with moderate-high modifications. Thats a rough Idea, now go out and search which engine is for you!

300Z's came with a SOHC V6 turbo here in the states....the VG30ET and I believe the VG30DET...but not an Inline six...those were only in Japan where they came with the RB20DET engine (same as a Skyline)....

Like I said above, its time to go searching. BTW RB20 is from a R32 GTS-T skyline. We have talked about it a lot.

i have not seen a rb20 in a s14? is there a reason why?
like on honda's i know you run into problems with the computers going from non obd to obd1 and obd2.

yeah, i am starting to see that. i think i am gonna boost the stock k24de first (untill it blows) then swap a rb into it. gonna have to do some research to see if i am gonna do rb20det or spend big and do the rb25det?

No probBoosting the stock KAGreat start. I havent seen many RB20s in S14s...I cant even remember one actually. Only seen it in a S13. And seen most RB25s/RB26s in S14s. If you ask me, if the KA blows id upgrade to a RB20. Its cheaper then a RB25, but can put out some great numbers. Just rememberd. not many people do the RB20 swap into a S14 because the wiring is a bit tougher. The wiring from a RB20 is similar to a S13 wiring, and wiring from a RB25 is similar to a S14(still hard though)

RB20DET- came in the 300zx (certain models), R31 and R32 GTS.
RB25DET- came in the R32 GTT, R33 GTS-25t, and R34 GTS-25t (NEO RB25DET, which came with 280HP)
RB26DETT- came in R32-R34 GTR.

All of these models can fit into the S13 and S14 chassis with little modification if used the McKinney install kit.

thanx DETurbine, great info. for wiring concerns i wonder if it would be in my best intrest to stick with engine from same year? the rb20 is a little older? my car is a 95 so it is obd2, i am guessing that the rb20 is non obd? what computers do you use when doing these types of swaps?

only 96+240sx is OBDII, RB20s are OBDI I believe. You use the RB20 ECU if your doing the RB20 swap, RB25 ECU if your doing a RB25 swap and etc.
