CA18det for 1989 240sx
I have a 1989 240sx and am looking to make a motor swap. I dont want the SR motor since everyone else has done that. I was wondering what all would I need to do to swap a CA18DET, or a CA18de. I heard that they are both pretty much able to go into a 1989 240sx quite easily, but i was just wondering. Should i buy a used one and rebuild it or should i just find one with like 35,000 miles. Thanks a lot

CA only reached 475 cause no one ever spent time building one right like a 800hp SR , a CA can be made in to a 2.0L very easlly and sleved from what i've looked into. And i plan on doing that> I can afford a SR, but i went CA, everyone dose a SR dosn't make it right. Plus I want to be differnt.

^^ well not really but i'm not gonna let out all my secrets either. To each their own, once my CA is done i should have more then 2.0L displacement. And work isn't a big deal we all mechanics over here =) I do more bodyworkl, but i got good friends. and as far as stroker, i plan to use a doner CA20E, custom rods and pistons. I know a couple good machine shops that wont rape me. And i didn't get a CA because it was cheaper, i've never scene one fully built.

at a 1.8L the engine can't hold anymore than 475ish hp. untill i'm proven wrong you can't call me wrong. and yes i've seen video of a fully built one. didn't spool till 5.5 rpms
i understand you on the different thing. i'm still debating KA-t or RB20det because i don't wish to build the engine anytime soon. KA can only handle 250ish with good fuel support. rb is like 320ish i think with good fuel support.

RB20 has been proven to 400ish, thats even been mentioned on this forum a few times. I have one thats easily cranking over 300 and I have barely done anything to it. its still on stock turbo and injectors, and even stock SIDE MOUNT! boost controller, and custom made water sprayer, just got to be carefull not to beat on it too much cause that is not the best way to get power. I only did it that way cause I wanted to see how an RB motors charactaristics change when you boost it higher.
