Lightbulb 2JZGTTE( supra tt) swap

I heard of this swap but wow here it is look @ the HP numbers, 1000+RWHP..

they call it the 300sx!

What happens when you take the Nissan 240SX and decide to upgrade the power?

Yes, there are companies out there offering a turbo kit for the K24, but the next power upgrade is really the infamous Nissan SR20DET upgrade.

With the SR20DET, the base engine and proper turbo, fuel , and ECU mods we can produce 450 hp all day long. That is better than most super cars out there. After your thirst for power continues increase, you have to start the long road of changing pistons, cams, con-rods, headers, turbo, down pipe, intercooler, injectors, ECU, and the list never ends.

The average KFG have been able to get out of a heavily massaged SR20DET is about 588rwhp on pump gas. Yes, it is completely drivable. Yes, it is completely streetable. And Yes, you can cruise all day long on the hottest summer day with the A/C on and not break down, boil over, or blow a head, we would not have it any other way.

"WOW, that's great HP!", you would say. That's a great power rating to stop and be satisfied.

But, We at KFG are never satisfied. We wanted more, lots more than the little SR20DET could deliver.

So the quest was on.....

After carefully considering all of the engines we had available....like the wonderful RB25DET. After installation, we were still limited to about 500-600 reliable HP, which is what we got out of the SR20DET. You must realize to get 500-600 required extensive turbo, fuel and ECU massaging to extract those numbers from a stock 260HP set up. To make a long story short ...Out it came!!!

Next we acquired an RB26DETT (SWEET!!!) or so we thought. Yes, the RB26DETT is the finest engine Nissan has ever created. The RB26DETT swap takes a bit more effort than a RB25DET swap, but it is still very feasible. If you are willing to make extensive mods to the twin turbo set up and just go single turbo, (a must for all you Left Hand Drive Cars). If you drop the AWD transmission and throw in a RWD transmission, life becomes much much easier.

The RB26DETT in a 240SX is a amazing thing. Plus, if you are in North America, it is a very rare swap, (so you have some WOW factor and you are keeping it all Nissan). Stock the numbers on the RB26DETT are something like 260 lb/ft of torque and its rated at 280 hp (although its closer to 300-320HP in stock form). If that is good enough for you. Great! Stop Reading. Open your check book for about $8000-9000, and call one of the engine importers who claim they can get you one.

Did we mention, "We wanted something More". and we wanted it better than the SR20DET and BETTER than the RB25DET, so the 900-1000HP was our goal. To build a sustainable 1000HP engine on pump gas requires extensive mods. (Hey its hard to find race fuel at every pump.)

The list of extensive mods included a new base Nissan RB26DETT engine, steel billet 75.7mm stroker crankshaft, 87mm forged pistons, forged I-beam con rods, metal head gasket, custom camshafts (specifications depend upon power and endurance level requirements), complete race valve train, race water and oil pumps, enlarged baffled race oil sump, custom dual fuel injector rails, high rpm harmonic balancer. The mods also include a custom intake plenum - as due to the nature of the RB engine design, sustained equal airflow is imperative at high power levels. The engine also has its bore and stroke increased to bring the displacement up to ~2,700cc.

After boring, honing, balancing, porting, polishing, combustion chamber reshaping, camshaft tip processing, shim adjustments, valve lapping and seat grinding was performed. Throw in fuel system, larger injectors, ignition system, exhaust manifolds, upgraded turbo chargers, oil and water cooling systems and any other ancillaries, hours and hours of Dyno time, you will get the HP desired. Your cost for all of this work, about $40,000-$45,000 (plus or minus a few thousand here and there, and here and there that we forgot to add to the budget.)

Snap, Crackle, POP!!!.. something for the Breakfast cereal, but not something that was supposed to be reliable, streetable, and drivable. The reliability factor just was not there. After a few major teardowns, rebuilds, more custom made parts, more dyno tuning, and more funds, we had to make a very hard decision. We could keep it at 680 reliable, streetable and drivable HP for street use and 900 or so for race use, and limit ourselves from there. Yes it was better then the SR20DET and better than the RB25DET, but we were still not happy with the overall feel of the car. If the 240SX was an all wheel drive, parts for the engine were readily available, and we had more funds available, we would have kept it. Since these were not the case, the decision was finally made, so out it came!!!

We then started looking at the car we had sitting right next to the Nissan 240SX, the all mighty, all powerful, and all invincible JZA80. The Twin Turbo Supra with the 2JZGTE! The 2JZGTE, we have been playing with for years, the engine we already managed to squeeze into the BMW, the Mercedes, the Volvo, and the Nissan Cifero.

We get 500-800 out of the 2JZ all day long, with outstanding reliability, streetability, and performance.

It didn't take long for the little 240SX to become the 300SX. But it did take a long time to work out all of the little bugs out of the system.

Introducing the next generation power plant to meet the 240SX.

Meet the 300SX. A 2JZ GTE powered monster.

At 788rwhp in low boost for daily driving and 968rwhp in high boost for your weekend thrills, and up to 1050rwhp for those nights when everything is just right.

Now we are satisfied. Have we hit the limit for what we want to do? No, But until we can find another car that has this type of looks, combined with handling, and performance. we're going to leave it alone.

If you would like to build a project such as this for around $10,995 to start, drop us a email or give us a call. When we say to start, that means we are starting off with about 280rwhp (320 for those that like crank HP). Power packages can range from stage 1 up to stage 7. Move up to the next level when you are ready. Please do not dream of a 800 or 900 hp car when the only thing you have ever driven is your Mom's Chevy Cavalier or a base Honda Civic. This is a real race car designed for the streets. It is for those that have had it all and want MORE, and that's not enough!.
