LSD for Imports - why so expensive?!??!?!

I was looking through a Summit catalog I got in the mail earlier and as I was looking through the pages, I noticed something interesting - why is it that domestic aftermarket LSDs cost anywhere from 30-50% of what we would have to pay for an LSD? They have race-spec LSD's for like $400...

...you'd think that these companies might have noticed this thing called "the Import scene" by now! I mean, the only big name company I can think of off the top of my head who's expanding their product line for Imports (albeit Honda's) is Edelbrock. Okay - B & M has short shifters... I can't think of anymore right now (I'm hungry - so sue me).

I mean, how mechanically different would a 2-way for a Nissan be compared to, say, a Ford Mustang GT (other than the obvious, like metric/standard measurements, diff size, spline pattern, etc.)

Kinda makes it even harder for us Import car driving people.

From what I understand it has to do with the whole import, export tax. Domestic product don't have to pay import taxes. If you probaly notice almost all domestic parts are cheap and it cheaper to repair domestics. All the muscle guy at work argue with me all the time, telling me it takes the less then $4000 dollars to run 10s at the track compared to the $30,000 it takes imports.

Let's see... carbon friction disc... "Detroit Locker" type... Moroso looks to be a clutch type...

The "detroit locker" type is like phantom grip right? Those are cheap no matter what. But clutch types(mechanical) going for 400ish bucks? Slide might be onto something with the taxes and stuff.

Well, the Import tax thing is understandable, but doesn't it still seem like a HUGE difference cost-wise?
