Help feels like a slip...

Alrigth so here's the deal. When I push my 89 240 fast back alittle it feels as if the entire engine just stops responding. It only happens when I push the car to 3,500-4,000rpms in 5th gear, like you feel the car have a very faint jerking feeling and then it's as if I have a limitor cause when I step on the throttle I get no response the rpms don't go even go up as if it popped into netural.. I don'no exactly what it is but sometimes if I give it a quick clutch kick it begins to respond again. Any idea what this could be.. If it's in the wrong section I'm sorry but I kinda figured it was a tranny problem.. But I am a noob.
Thanks for any help in advanced.
Raven...
P.S. if there is any info you need to maybe help determine the problem I will get right on it and find out..

Check your MAFS, the MAFS harness plug, or the MAFS solder contacts. That would be my first suggestion

Thanks. Um I don'no exactly how fast I am going cause the tachometer is busted and doesn't work.. I just got the car less than 2 weeks ago so I'm still planning to work out some kinks in it. However nothing major till my SR20 swap.. But thanks I'll check the MAFS and get back to you. =)
