Auto to 5 Spd
Hey guys. I have a 1992 240 coupe, I love it, and have loved it...The only problem is its auto. I wanna do a manual conversion on it. How hard is it to do? What all is involved? The only part I would think would be hard would be the clutch pedal and linkage. But I could be wrong. Thanks guys.

the swap is about 90% complete right now...as far as at my house
i have to go get the hardline and possibly clutch pedal.
i dont know where mine went....
and i know how to do it. it's pretty basic.
the hardest part is the hole for the slave master

simple enough...time consuming
im doing it for an 89...
what you will need:
drive shaft $12.00
manual transmission $50.00
master cylinder freebie
slave cylinder $11.00
shifter freebie
hydrolic lines freebie
clutch pedal $10.00
brake pedal $10.00
clutch freebie
flywheel freebie
wiring harness ???
those are the prices i got from a junkyard all in one day from the same car.
the swap itself isnt hard. its just time consuming and it takes two to remove the tranmissions to and from the car and tranny jack.
but the hard part is making the holes for the cylinders.
its just a matter of putting it on where you took it off.
also on the brake pedal...if you dont want to take one off a junk car and put it on yours...you can always cut your brake pedal. save you some money and time. all you need a good reciprocating saw and a good blade.
the clutch linkage is simple. the pedal hooks up the the master cyl on the other side of the firewall...a line goes into the master all the way to the slave and into the tranny
but before i put my foot in my mouth...let me do this on my car this weekend.
and i advise you to spend some of your own time pulling a tranny out yourself...shops want to charge 400-600 bones for a used manual tranny...i got mine for 50 bones in less than an hour.
