Yea i heard about the car build-up. Whats wrong with that? I heard it did pretty well last year at IAS in Long Beach with some of those fools from Apex'i and Ezekiel or something. Just something different than your typical car show. Also, I think the show is mainly JDM.

and this is D1. no place for a car show, even a "mAd TyTe JdM" car show. ::sigh::

Well I think the reason for the carshow, the car build-up, and the actions sports demos are all to keep the spectators busy so people don't get bored like at a Hot Import Nights event where u just walk around the venue for like 30 minutes and you're over it cuz theres nothing else left to see or do.
Plus the gates open at 3PM and the actual D1 competition doesnt start until 7:30. And the carshow entry is $40 which include two passes so its like entering a carshow for free and maybe winning some money out of it.
Heres the schedule:
Car show entry - $40 (includes car spot and 2 tickets) Ticket - $20
Event Schedule (tentative)
8:00am vendor/sponsor set-up begins
10:00am car show roll-in begins
2:00pm vendor/sponsor & car show set-up ends
3:00pm gates open to public
4:00pm car show judging begins
5:00pm to 6:00pm D1 group one practice session
6:00pm to 7:00pm D1 group two practice session
7:30pm to 9:30pm D1 competition
9:30pm awards ceremony
10:00pm event ends

yeah but thats for a car show, not a motorsports event. and the fact that there is a gap in the schedule has nothing to do with it. i mean THEY made the schedule and put in the carshow and crap. they should just start it earlyer. this is straying from what D1 is all about and "americanizing" it.
