alpine= no rear bass???
i installed an alpine cda-9813 a couple of days ago, and i absolutely love it except for one thing. . . the lack of bass coming from the rear speakers. I have alpine type r 6x9's the rear and the weird thing is that if i set the balance all the way to either the left or right side, the bass is MUCH more pronounced than if they are balanced in the middle (pretty much nonexistant and they sound like my type s 6 1/2's i have up front). the 6x9's are have a crossover setting of 80.
I'm 99% sure that everything is wired correctly since i wired my previous headunit (cda-9811) flawlessly. also, when i had the same setup with my 9811, the bass more pronounced than it is now. btw, yes i have a direct fused connectioin the battery just like alpine suggests. any help would be appreciated. thanks

The rear speakers are out of phase. You really need to make sure all of the speakers in the car are wired to the deck with the positive on the positive and the negative on the negative but swapping ONE rear speaker's wires will fix the problem in the rear but then they might be out of phase with the fronts.
Also, if you're not running a sub, you may as well run the rears full range.

from experience : stock head unit / speakers have much better bass than after markey head unit / speakers. I think the key lies in the head unit, being tuned for the speaker. i've used aftermarket headunit with stock speakers and lost a lot of bass. even when cranking up the bass on the head unit. i think that was an alpine cda-9815.
